THE
UNKNOWN PRAYERS
REMEMBRANCE COLLECTION

A PRECIOUS NEW TOKEN OF
REMEMBRANCE “DUA FOR THE UNKNOWN FALLEN”

Among the untold millions whose lives were cut short by the horrors of the First World War, at least four million Muslims served with the Allied Armed Forces. Despite the scale of this contribution, until now, we have had no symbol to honour the supreme sacrifice of these Muslim comrades in arms.  We have had no emblem to pay tribute to these unknown heroes.

The Chairman of the Forgotten Heroes 14-19 Foundation has now designed a unique jewel to pay homage to the global contribution of Muslims to the Allied cause, creating an important world-wide opportunity to honour their dignified service, their courage, and their sacrifice.

The beautiful new jewel shows two open hands making Dua, the prayer of supplication. Cradled in the praying hands is a poppy, the universal symbol of the “war to end all wars.” Within the flower is a square, representing the Kaaba. Neither the hands nor the poppy has a colour, as the jewel reminds us of our universal humanity, and our shared loss. We hope that this meaningful jewel can not only honour those who lost their lives in a long-ago conflict but will also offer a shining emblem of mutual respect, peace, recognition, and understanding among all peoples of the world today.

A PRECIOUS NEW TOKEN OF REMEMBRANCE “PRAYERS FOR THE UNKNOWN FALLEN”

The original Remembrance Poppy was created during World War I to raise funds for widows, orphans, veterans, and charities such as the Red Cross and Food for France.  It also was a call for peace among nations–a call we need to heed today more than ever.

All but nine countries were involved in that global conflict, one of the greatest catastrophes in human history.  Many of us living today have an ancestor who was affected by this disastrous war.

The chairman of the Forgotten Heroes 14-19 Foundation has now designed a unique jewel to pay homage to the worldwide contribution to the Allied cause of people of all faiths and none.  It is a unique opportunity to honour their service, their courage, and their sacrifice.  The jewel shows two open hands in prayer.  Cradled in the praying hands is a poppy, the universal symbol of the “war to end all wars”.  As a reminder of our universal humanity and our shared loss, neither the hands nor the poppy has a colour.

We hope that this magnificent jewel will not only honour those who lost their lives in a long-ago conflict but will also be a shining emblem of mutual respect, peace, and understanding among all peoples of the world today.

MANUFACTURING

The Unknown Prayers collection has been launched in close
partnership with our British manufacturer in the UK. A unique social enterprise creating jobs, skills, and work experience for Armed Forces veterans with disabilities and ongoing health or mental health conditions. As well as supporting the work of our Foundation, every single purchase of our new jewellery is helping disadvantaged veterans build a new life after injury, ill-health or homelessness. All the veterans involved in this important project understand first-hand the horror of war and are proud to be a part of this new dedication to the Muslim forces who served with the Allies as brothers in arms.

“I believe in a world of shared histories and shared values. This is why I’m convinced that symbols to remember the lives, motivations, faiths and creeds of these soldiers, who fought and died with honour and dignity, are vital in supporting a world of ethnic mosaic where communities feel a sense of ownership of their common futures.”
